About

The Process

We intend to weave a number of stories together while taking the viewer on a journey through the lives of people fighting for understanding and the representation they deserve. We will be invited into families, found and blood, capturing why it is so important to be seen and how when you find your people it can change the trajectory of how you live your life. Professionals and academics will also share their findings and understanding as to why representation in the media matters and how fandoms can empower individuals who are part of them.

We will be traveling throughout the US and Canada capturing the journeys of a few specific subjects and a lot of individuals with experiences and thoughts to share. There will be sit down interviews as well as following the day-to-day lives of some. If we are fortunate enough, we hope to talk also with some individuals involved in the shows, most of which were canceled, depicting positive representation.

The Reason

Humans are a fascinating species. We are capable of so much goodness especially when supported by each other. These fandoms, at their core, are nothing short of inspirational. Their love and acceptance of every and any other being is a breath of fresh air and needs to be shared with the world because this world could do with a bit more kindness.

These human stories, authentic, queer stories deserve to be heard. No one should have to fight so hard to be seen and respected. These stories matter. Representation matters.

The Community

The LGBTQ+ community is no stranger to the fight. We show up. We are a family of sorts especially when our families don’t want us, we find each other. We support, embrace, and lift each other up. The queer community is as diverse as they come which is a balancing force when coming together to take on a cause and the community we hope to cultivate here, is no exception. We create found families, become part of fandoms, and seek to simply be represented - to be seen. We can’t do it alone, however, no one ever can. We need each other. We need you.
